THIS IS WHY

"All my life I knew that I wanted to work with kids. My family is full of educators, but I couldn’t see myself in a classroom. I started working part-time at the Copple Family YMCA in 2019.  I fell in love with the work I got to do, and saw the beautiful impact that Youth, Teen & Family staff have on families.  With mentoring from my supervisor I was promoted to a Youth, Teen ad Family Program Director and am I grateful that I now get to wake up every day and do this as my full-time job." - Makenzie

"As a Shift Leader, I gained valuable experience that helped me become more confident working with children and families.  This was incredibly helpful when I stared my student teaching in elementary education.  I was confident in the classroom and was able to communicate effectively during parent-teacher conferences." - Emmalie

"As a high school student, I wasn't sure about what career path I wanted to pursue in college.  But after working in Child Watch at the Y, I found my calling in youth education and have been loving every minute of it." - Liz

"I first wanted my job at the Y because YAY, free childcare. But now I have gained mom friends, work friends, member friends and acquaintances  I run into new, old and current members all around town.  My kids have gained friends both within their school and outside their school. Working at the Y is the best thing I've done for myself and my family." - Amanda
